The Great Food Blogger Cookie Swap:2013

This year was my first year doing Food Blogger Cookie Swap, and I loved it :D I am defiantly going to take part in this swap next year, and I am already planning :D If you missed the cookie swap this year, sign up here, http://eepurl.com/qCABj to get email notifications for next years swap!!

Sending a new cookie recipe and receiving three other cookie recipes from three different bloggers was such a treat. I had sent out two cookie recipes to my secret bloggers. I had tried a peppermint pinwheel, and white chocolate chip pretzel cookies.

The Peppermint Pinwheel cookies was like a sugar cookie dough but the red in the pinwheel had a peppermint taste to it, while the white had a vanilla taste to it.

Peppermint Pinwheel Cookies:
1/2 cup butter, soften
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp mint extract
1 3/4 cup flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
3/4 tsp reed food coloring

1. Beat butter until creamy; slowly add sugar beating until light and fluffy

2. Add egg and ; beat until blended, scrape bowl as needed
3. Combine flour, baking soda, and salt, slowly add flour mixture to butter; beat on slow until blended
4. Divide dough into 2 equal parts; add vanilla to one part, and the mint extract to the other part; roll one portion of dough onto a 12x18 rectangle on a piece of lightly floured plastic wrap
5. Knead food coloring paste into other portion of dough.  Roll out dough onto a rectangle, invert noncolor dough onto of colored dough. Peel off top piece of plastic wrap. Cut dough in half lengthwise forming two rectangles. Roll up each rectangle jelly roll fashion starting at one long side using bottom piece of plastic wrap as a guide, freeze for 4 hours.
6. Preheat oven to 350 degrees for 6-7 minutes or until puffed; cool cookies on baking sheet for 5 minutes remove to wire racks and cool completely.

I also did a white chocolate pretzel cookie, which consisted of white chocolate chips, and chocolate and white crushed pretzels.

White Chocolate Chip Pretzel Cookies
3/4 cup butter
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup packed dark brown sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 1/4 + 2 tbs all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon salt
3 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
1 bag (7 oz) white and chocolate covered pretzels

Oven 350 degrees
1. In a large bowl beat butter, and sugars; mix on medium speed until creamy
2. Add eggs and vanilla beat until blended
3. Mix four, baking soda, and salt; add to butter mixture until blended
4. Stir in chocolate chips

Bake for 10-14 minutes

And my cookies were sent out the door December 2, 2013

Look at all of the wonderful cookies I received, thanks to my first cookie swapper from The Humble Gourmet with the tasty dark chocolate gingersnaps. Then thank you to Mrs Happy Homemaker for Grandma Milllie's Oatmeal Cookies, and thank you to Bookie for the tasty White Chocolate Chip Peppermint Cookies.

Monster High

This weekend I had made a Monster High Doll cake for a sweet 5 year older. I had free take on this cake, it just had to be Monster High and a vanilla cake :)

So I decided to make a doll cake..well the dress of a doll. I took a Monster High doll, saran wrapped her legs and part of her body, so I could place her in the center of the cake, making the cake be her dress. Then I also made a 9x9 square cake on the side, that was also Monster High themed.

On November 8, was my beautiful princess' 3rd birthday♥ . She is the joy of my life and keeps me stronger than ever. My smart little princess loves Dora the Explorer and her mind was set on a Dora themed birthday.

On her birthday I made her confetti Dora the Explorer themed cupcakes to share with her friends at daycare. There were cupcakes made of Boots, Dora, Swiper, Diego, and the two backpacks ♥

And for my big girls party, we had DORA! A 3D Dora the Explorer Cake. Her head was chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream. Top half of body funfetti cake filled with buttercream, and bottom marble cake filled with buttercream, all covered and detailed with fondant.

2013 Brynn's Walk for Apraxia

This year today September 23, 2013 the Brynn's Walk for Apraxia was held at the Malone Park.

This year our team was a little smaller than last year, because we recently found out that my cousin Keaton(Team Keaton from last year) does not have Apraxia, that he has 22Q instead. Even though he does not have Apraxia that didn't stop out team this year from coming and supporting the ones that do have Apraxia.

OUR 2013 TEAM♥

This year at the walk the had different superhero's show up and was apart of the walk and they had handed out comic books with a special pin that corresponded with what superhero they were. There was one superhero that my little princess and my cousin loved and once they saw him later on during the walk they had to chase him to the end...can you guess who it was??

 SPIDERMAN!!!!

Not only did my little girl love to see Spiderman she also couldn't stop following her around either

WONDERWOMAN!!!

This year I was honored to be apart of this walk, but in a different way...through CAKE!!!!

I decided to do a tiered cake, with the Apraxia logo of course. I did the top tier a strawberry cake, then marble, chocolate, and lastly a funfetti tier, all frosted and filled with buttercream and some fondant details.

These little stars was who the cake was for, the children that attended the walk who has Apraxia

Now lets cut the cake!!!!!!!

Robin Blue, Owl

My mothers friend was getting married and wanted me to make her wedding cake :D well wedding cupcakes and mini cake :)

She requested 100 cupcakes and wanted 4 different flavors, her color of the frostings to be a robin blue and her mini cake to be a owl head. When I heard about the owl head I was WAYYY excited to make that because it was something unique and a challenge for me. :)

The 4 different flavor cupcakes were 25 chocolate cupcakes with chocolate buttercream, 25 chocolate cupcakes with mint buttercream, 25 lemon cupcakes with cream cheese frosting, and 25 white cupcakes with white buttercream.

And for the mini wedding cake, which was the owls head, is a chocolate cake, filled with mint and chocolate buttercream.

Dream Cake for Grace

Grace's Story ♥
http://gracebrezenski.blogspot.com/p/graces-story.html

On, 9-7-2013 I officially became a Sugar Angel though Icing Smiles.

I got a call to action to make Grace's Dream Minnie Mouse Cake, and was able to create an "icing smile" on Grace's Face. :)

I was told a few things that was wanted on her Dream cake, like, what flavor. number of servings, any special writing, and the theme of her cake, which was Minnie Mouse in particular, Minnie Mouse in a PINK dress :)

I was told that Grace was gifted with her dream to go to Disney World, and I knew I wanted to incorporate that in her cake some way and make it very special for her. So I decided to add the Disney Castle on her cake.

HAPPY 5TH BIRTHDAY GRACE ♥

Icing Smiles call to action

I finally received the one email that I've been dreaming about. The one email that I would open in a heart beat, to read on a special cake request for a sweet little angel.

I got an email from Icing Smiles to take on a dream cake of a precious girl name Grace.
My heart was filled with joy, that I was asked to take on a dream cake for Grace.

I am overly excited to take on her dream cake and wouldn't trade her smile for anything in this world. :)

Ralph Lauren Birthday Shirt Cake

Over this weekend my family celebrated my grandpas 67th birthday. I wanted to make him a cake that had a meaning behind it..so, I cake up with the Tom Bagnall shirt cake. My grandpa, Tom, always wears these certain types of shirts, well.. polo shirts, and because he wears these shirts so much, my family calls them the, "Tom Bagnall" shirt.

So that is exactly what I made... a, "Tom Bagnall" shirt cake, but I had to make the cake special, so I got a Ralph Lauren shirt, and copied the shirt into a cake.

Happy 67th Birthday Grandpa
